As its name suggests, the Cuban collar is a traditional open-collar shirt worn in Cuba, the last paradise. It's considered a kind of national dress and formal attire worn by government officials at prestigious events, but its exact origins are unknown. Locally, it's called Guayabera (meaning guava farming). It's said to have originated in the late 19th century, when the wife of a guava farming couple added a pocket to her open-collar work shirt so her husband could easily carry the guavas he picked.
This item features a striking ethnic red vector pattern and motif print, showcasing the ethnic texture and feel, creating a unique and vintage feel. It incorporates jacquard weaving, a technique in which the yarns are dyed before being woven and then woven together while combining the colored threads. The design itself is woven into the fabric, and the wash treatment adds a vintage touch.
